TEAM CHRISTNER HEADLINE NEWS

Planning for 2012

The 2012 MS 150 is September 8-9
We've been informed that hotel space is in short supply because of a football game. Make your reservations now, or join us at Camp Christner on the Fairgrounds site.

We've spent January getting organized, not everything is in place, but here are some highlights.

  • Recruit new members, improve fundraising. This past year, with a smaller team we finished tenth overall in fundraising. For 2012, we'd like to be a top five team. To do that we need to recruit new members and help riders improve their ability to fund raise.
  • Create more opportunities to ride together. In addition to our Saturday ride in Chesterfield/Wildwood, the Saturday ride from the Hub will be a weekly group option. Since many riders can't make a Saturday ride, we also want to find opportunities for Sunday rides. This  includes participating as a team at Trailnet events and possibly creating a Sunday ride group.
  • Support all riders. Not everyone can, or wants to ride long distances at fast pace. Last year, Tim Friedman spearheaded a moderate pace group on the Saturday rides. We want to expand on his efforts and do more to get those who ride at similar paces together. At group rides we will again have  pre-ride huddle that that we used several years ago to organize the group. With the completion of the Monarch Levee Trail we are considering starting our rides from the athletic complex which offers toilets and running water.

We're working on the calendar too. Below are some key dates to keep in mind. All the dates are still tentative until we check for other conflicting events.
March 9 - 2012 Kick Off and Happy Hour
April - Informal start of Saturday rides. See the Facebook group and look for emails for details as they develop.
May TBD - MS Society Kick-Off ride. We will inform everyone of the date once the MS Society announces it.
May 12 - Begin "official" weekly training rides from Chesterfield and the Hub.
June 3 - Tour de Christner (tenative). Last year was a rain-out and the date had many conflicts. We hope June will be a better time to stage this ride.

Registration for the MS 150 is only $20. Building the team early will give us the chance to select where our team tent will be. WHY NOT REGISTER NOW!

We look forward to warm temperatures and many goods rides leading up to the 2012 MS 150. Thanks for choosing Team Christner.
